It was an honor to have the chance to visit the South Florida Hindu Temple in Florida because of its magnificence and architecture. The temple also has several deities to cater to different devotees, for example, Shri Ganesh, Sarswati Ma, ShriSatyanarayan, Shiva Parvati, Durga Ma, Shri Ram Parivar, Radha Krishna, ShriVenkateswara, MahaLaxmi, and ShriHanumanji.

The Hindu religion established itself in South Florida from the need to fill the cultural void and to encourage the cultural heritage of people of Indian descent with Sanatana Dharma inclinations. However, the formation of South Florida Temple was not only to continue Sanatana Dharma values but also to cater for diaspora people while considering the diversity in pursuit of self-enlightenment and realization. Balavihar involves cultural induction and orientation of modern age kids and young adults.At the same time, Yuva Kendra is a youth organization aimed at imparting leadership skills and networking through volunteerism and community program participation.Bharatanatyam is a famous traditional dance lesson offered in the temple because of its artistic nature.

The temple is an ornamental piece of art commissioned 20 years ago and boasts of grand mixed architecture, outstanding column designs, and central space. The entrance to the central area contains a massive gate decorated with sculptures. Moreover, incense, fruits, and water are part of offerings given to the gods and goddesses. I also noticed that a few worshippers had beads either tied on their hands or around their waist. My overall experience at South Florida Hindu temple restored my faith in back to humanity. Overwhelming hospitality, selflessness, and devotion at the temple made me see the good in others. Teachings of love and pursuits of self-realization by the monks further reinforced my faith in humanity and the importance of enlightenment. Above all the lessons, my perception of the Hindu value system is that it strives tobe the mirror through which one can have a moment of reflection, evaluate and change to be a better version of himself or herself. Therefore, with gods and goddesses aside, the Hinduism value system is more than a religion but a compass to guide someone to better liberated individuals.
