The goal of your Music Circle:
The topic is the seasons since I will focus on Nancy Kopman’s album. From the activities, the children will learn how to admit adequate oxygen as they sing. They can also learn how to vary their intonations depending on the type of music played. Again, it helps achieve uniformity in group singing as they acquire proper timing skills.
Transition to Music Circle
To shift from the previous activity, I will chant to attract their attention. I will say, “Hello, young once we are moving to the music circle session.” The effort can be enhanced by clapping or whistling.
Introduction (Opening Song) to Music Circle
The opening song will be Everybody Clap. I will lead the song as I clap. Then say, “everybody sing along.” The act is accompanied by abroad to the children. The song involves other activities such stomping of feet and going side to side.
Activity 1
Once inside the circle, the movement stops, and then I ask the children to face the CD player. Nancy Kopman’s Hello song is then played. The song goes, “Hello, Hello, what do you see…” The children should reply by “hello, I see, my knees.” The part of “knees” is replaced with other body parts such as legs, hands, and fingers in successions. After two minutes of the activity, the children are asked to take a deep breath. Such a move ensure adequate air circulation to their lungs as most of them may have held their breathing during the singing. Also, the step marks a transition from singing to the next activity.
Activity 2
In the second activity, a child is randomly asked into the circle to say his or her name. The child then picks one of the instruments provided at the circle center and plays as the others clap their hands. As the child in the center performs, he or she is expected to accompany the instrument with a song concluded in activity one. The exercise enables the children to appreciate each other and the performer to earn self-confidence. After everyone has performed, the instructor joins the circle. The children are led outside as Kopmans’ Goodbye Goodbye plays. The song offers a transition to the next activity.
Activity 3
As they get to the field, the teacher leads them into making another circle. At this point they are required to hold their hands. The singing stops and they are told to take a deep breath. With the hands down, the teachers “1. 2.” while the kids respond by saying “make a circle”, the teacher say “3. 4” followed by “a biiiiiig circle” from the students. The teacher gets back to the circle and randomly selects the children into the circle, one at a time. They are then asked to describe what they have learnt. Each child should be at his or her spot on the circle at the time the activity ends.
Closing
Once more, the teacher repeats the chants to make the circle wider. The last response is accompanied by a few backward steps to enlarge the circle. Lastly, the instructor chants, “dismissed” and a “Hurraaaaaay” from the children.
Next activity
The children are asked to clap to appreciate themselves. They are then led to have their lunch as they sing Kopman’s Goodbye song.

As the children sing their intake of oxygen increases thus they get healthier. By clapping their physical skills such as the motor skills are enhanced hence prepares them for tougher physical experience. Their social skills get better as they hold hands in the circle activity. Thus children can befriend each other. Lastly, playing of instruments enhances their emotional balance.
