While most organizations have their mission and vision statements on display, most employees do not understand their essence, their main concern being to get work done. While this may seem okay, it demonstrates the lack of a common direction in an organization that is manifested in the inconsistency of individual and departmental performance. It is of paramount importance to ensure the goals and values of the organization are well known to the staff members, each employee knowing their role and expected delivery to these goals. It is also critical for staff to be working at optimum working conditions, to eliminate the risk of employees being poached or their simultaneous job hunting for ‘greener pastures.’ This project aims to ensure that staff needs are put to the table for affirmative action and constantly revisited to assess the effectiveness of measures put in place. |

| 2.1 Describe the project of interest. | Functions and benefits of corporate social responsibilities on the success of the business organization.
This project takes a social perspective to attribute the success, and failure thereof of a business establishment. This is based on the grounds of a business coexisting with the community in which it is based, offering beneficial services to the community in form of community based partnerships, investment in social causes meant to benefit the community members, employment opportunities with a priority for candidates from the community, positive environmental and infrastructural contribution. By citing of examples of interaction between a business and the community in which it is set, the project will demonstrate the need for corporate social responsibility.

| 2.2 Identify the problem driving the need for a project. | A business’ operation directly affects the residents of the area in which its operations are done. This places the community at a risk to potential risks facing the business in form of accidents the business may face such as fires, gas leaks, air pollution and concerns of security. These would both directly and indirectly affect members of the community who directly depend on the business for an income and collaborative business deals. |

(provide three sources of cited support) | Organizational goals for a business may be in collision with majority beliefs and practices of the community its set up in, making it unwelcome there due to a disintegration in ethics (Garriga & Mele, 2004). This affects both the business, by receiving rejection from the community, and the community by being violated in its norms. This also negatively reflects on the organization, expected to be a source of livelihood to its neighboring community (Friedman, 1970) and its subsequent development (Ismail, 2009).
The activities of a business are highly dependent on the cooperation from the surrounding environment. Employment of disruptive methods by the business to the community, such as noise at night and emission of disease causing fumes, often will be faced by a negative affirmative action from the residents, leading to potential closure of the establishment. |
